Family Tree/Relationships

Lion- Basil's mother, who was named after her thick magenta hair. She was wiped out by a terrible flood before Basil was old enough to remember her, but she still watches over Basil from above.

Shadow- Basil's father, who somehow ended up finding a dagger containing the remaining power of an ancient demon king. Prolonged exposure to the dagger's power slowly turned him into a shadow creature, which led to him destroying most of his villiage. Escaping the evil king's influence, he ran away, ashamed of what he had done. While searching for a new life, he ran into Lion, a kind mortal ans Basil's future mother.

Bird- The ghost of Basil's aunt who follows her around. At first she acted threatening and tried to be scarier than she was, but eventually gave up and became very protective of Basil.

Dove- Basil's mentor, who suspected that both of her parents weren't mortal, and taught her everything she needed to know about shadows as well as basic magic. She eventually died in a war with another kingdom while surrounded by enemy knights.

Basil's friend (??), who hates how much time her best friend Dove spends with Basil. She stays up all night and sleeps for half of the day, never has the motivation to do anything, and hates everything. Dove's death only made things worse for her...

Ayleth- Basil's friend who owns a bookstore within the kingdom. She was originally a statue outside of the castle, but she was brought to life by a magical necklace containing a young girl's spirit. If she experiences strong negative emotions such as grief, she will turn back into a statue for a few days. If she wants to, she can turn to stone at will and still be able to move around normally.

Cerise- Basil's other friend who is also Ayleth's sister. She works as a tailor, and has a shop full of fancy clothing for any occasion. Cerise is extremely protective of Ayleth, and if Ayleth experiences a negitive emotion and turns into a normal statue, she stays by her side for as long as it takes for her to turn back.

Blue- A brave knight who Basil looks up to. Blue is actually a female masquerading as a male knight, but she ends up falling in love with Shadow and giving her secret away after years of serving as the head knight.
